Lakeside centre

Built at the turn of the century on the edge of the city centre, and now situated right in the middle of the port facilities, this veritable lakeside centre is heavily frequented by Trieste natives of all ages. It comprises a series of raised jetties of approximately 1.5 m, which surround the bathing areas and contain changing huts and various premises, including games rooms and a bar. The roofs form a second level of solarium or shaded terraces. Constructed entirely from concrete, this daring construction establishes proximity between activities (industry / traffic / leisure) wrongly considered as antagonistic, thus constituting within its context an inspirational vision of a self-confident urban condition.
