House on stilts

Located behind the first row of constructions on the sea front, these two houses are raised above street level in order to give the dwellings a clear view. Entirely ordinary in terms of their floor plan, they acquire their singularity thanks to the extent of their elevation (approximately 5 m) which creates a protected and bright space at garden level. The elegance of the concrete piles, worked in the manner of the Perret brothers (smooth corners / bush-hammered surfaces), and the narrowness of the buildings contribute to the quality and continuity of the gardens. A demonstration of the occasionally spectacular character of what may simply be referred to as common sense, in a blend of conformity and excess.
