COLLECTIVE HOUSING UNITS - SAVIGNY

landscape sanctuaries / shared meadows
The project seeks to reconcile preservation of the site’s many remarkable trees with the constitution of a homogenous, high-quality urban fabric. Our strategy for preservation of the trees as well as the lowest shrub layer involves the delineation of landscape sanctuaries which it will be possible to entirely close off during work on site. In terms of layout, and leading on from this initial strategy, we propose compact compounds, regularly spaced along the avenue and thus delineating very large shared meadows. For the same reasons, the project provides for an underground car park located under the central compound, making it possible to restrict over ground on-street parking to the detached houses and studios only.

The combination of these strategies (landscape sanctuaries / compact built footprints / underground car park) makes it possible to preserve 50% of the surface area of the plot, representing an immediate asset for definition of the landscape context of the dwellings. The meadows thus delineated contain 85% of the remarkable or interesting trees.

typological diversity / unitary form
The project is composed of four built clusters oriented north-south, served by a central lane and thereby offering all dwellings a double east/west orientation. The detached houses, integrated with the volumes of these buildings, are located along the avenue. In fact, the specificity of our proposal stems from the quasi-detached status of all the dwellings. Despite overlapping or interlinking, the dwellings all have their own entrance door leading onto the external lanes, which are the only truly communal access spaces.

Our project proposes a wide range of exterior spaces, from the most collective to the very private, inter-connected in a graduated manner which qualifies the relationship of the dwellings with the public spaces : Access lane / Entrance courtyard / Private gardens / Belvedere terraces / Open-sky terraces / Shared meadows
