The project, located on the edge of the Dervallières district, seeks to constitute a built frontage along the Boulevard, while making careful use of transparencies between the latter and the landscaped spaces lower down. The accommodation is therefore organised in two plots with a variety of orientations and views, atop a unitary base, whose different levels follow the slope of the ring road, thus offering a series of floor-level access points to the halls and facilities.
The thickness of the two plots (17 x 22 m) enables a concentric layout, which groups circulation routes, secondary and wet rooms in the centre of the building, and allows all the key rooms and kitchens to be located around the edge of the buildings. This series of rooms with indefinite functions is affirmed on the facade by a regular arrangement of double-casement windows, reinforcing the unitary character of the building, and offering only primary facades to the different facets of the urban environment.
The facades are produced from in situ concrete, cast in wooden forms on a regulating framework of 75cm. Regulating the height of the bays and piers, the slab edges are clad with ceramic tiles, ornamental features which contrast with the more primitive style of the buildings.
